BIO

Maria Joaquina Marques has a Bachelor’s degree in English Translation (2005) and a post-graduate course in Subtitling (2010). In 2006 she started working part-time on audiovisual translations for an international company and became a full-time translator in 2010. Her current work includes transcriptions, spotting, subtitling and revisions for national and international companies, distributors and streaming services. She joined APTRAD as a mentor in the audiovisual field and now she is part of the AVT team.

ABSTRACT

Audiovisual translation has undergone major changes and developments in recent decades. Innovation and technology are increasingly advanced, with new software and tools being developed. Are professionals really prepared to face today’s market challenges? The aim of this round table is to encourage debate between AVT professionals and instructors and to hear their views on the future of education and training in the area, in order to meet the changing and increased market demands.
