ABSTRACT

CORPORATE SUBTITLING

Audiovisual material floods our everyday lives. The audiovisual translation market is much bigger than anyone imagines, and it cannot and should not, be seen as limited to the entertainment niche.
It is imperative that we understand the audiovisual industry and that we position ourselves as specialised professionals who are a necessary part of the chain, to ensure that our place in the market in not taken by external agents. As an audiovisual translator, what role do you play in the industry?

TECHNOLOGY AND THE FUTURE OF AVT

There is really no secret about the fact that the major changes in our century are mostly brought about by technology. This is a time of drastic changes and our profession, crucial to expanding knowledge across the world, could not be left out of this process. As technology circulates information faster than ever, so does the need to translate increase, bringing with it a new demand for the AVT market to cope with the increasing and continuous volume of audiovisual content needing to be translated, through the development of new tools. The aim of this round table is to have the companies that are developing new technologies share with us the not-so-distant future of solutions and tools for audiovisual translation.
