Under the sign of Accesibility
I came here for subtitling, and in fact discovered new dimensions of Accessibility, how to interpret the sound and the silence, how to use the technology to our benefit.
Thank you APTRAD for this revelation and for your powerful and beautiful Audiovisual community.

Learning
I am new to audio visual translation. This was a good opportunity to learn and get to know tools and technology that is available. Even though I was unable to attend all the lectures, I did learn from those that I was able to attend. I look forward to viewing the recorded sessions. Thank you.
Muitos PARABÉNS à APTRAD!
Muitos PARABÉNS à APTRAD! Fiquei extremamente orgulhosa por conseguirem organizar uma conferência internacional online, de forma tão excecional. Foram, de facto, quatro dias intensos dedicados à tradução audiovisual e à acessibilidade, que englobaram diversos temas, excelentes workshops, espaços de networking entre participantes e patrocinadores e, acima de tudo, um ambiente fantástico entre todos os presentes. Espero que possamos dar continuidade a este tipo de projeto, presencialmente e online também, porque haverá sempre colegas com dificuldades em deslocar-se e esta foi mais uma prova de que conseguimos reunir os tradutores a nível mundial num só ecrã! O único ponto que gostaria de frisar é que foi uma pena a conferência não ter o português como língua principal (com interpretação em inglês) e a mesma disponível na interpretação (no caso dos oradores serem estrangeiros), porque nem todos os participantes são fluentes a inglês. De qualquer forma, foi uma conferência excecional, a APTRAD está de PARABÉNS, como sempre, por todo o trabalho que tem vindo a desenvolver ao longo destes anos. Muito obrigada!
AVT – new opportunities for the future
It was a great opportunity to attend APTRAD’s first international audiovisual conference.
A conference fully dedicated to audiovisual translation was exactly what was needed to understand more about AVT, especially AVT for access, from people working in this sector and from many experts, in a variety of aspects.
I really enjoyed the conference.

AVT and Accessibility – Future is Access
I thank you so much to APTRAD’s first international audiovisual conference. The organization of a conference dedicated to audiovisual translation and accessibility was much needed worldwide. The themes were diverse. I believe everybody had 4 days full of joy, ideas, concepts and food for though and reflect on how AVT can make content more accessible to all.
I enjoyed the conference.

Com 30 anos de experiência na área, nunca vi em Portugal uma conferência nacional com as dimensões desta, muito menos internacional, e confesso que fiquei orgulhosa pela APTRAD. Conseguiram organizar tudo de forma excecional, em época de pandemia e com todos os constrangimentos inerentes. PARABÉNS!
Não encontrei nada que possa apontar como “falha” ou que careça de melhoria numa próxima conferência, é provável que do vosso lado tenha havido uma ou outra coisa “menos bem”, “a melhorar” – mas olhem que do lado de cá não se notou.
Era muito bom que este projeto tivesse continuidade, à semelhança de outras conferências organizadas no estrangeiro, de dois em dois anos, por exemplo. Idealmente em formato presencial, alternativamente em ambos os modos, presencial e online, para quem está mais longe e não pudesse deslocar-se. Julgo que deste modo usufruíamos de aprender com profissionais de outras regiões do mundo, que dificilmente teríamos hipótese de ouvir. A única coisa que me entristece é ver tão poucos colegas da área. Talvez no futuro haja maior participação.
AVT and Accessibility in Portugal
The organization of a conference dedicated to audiovisual translation and accessibility was much needed in Portugal and I think APTRAD achieved the goal with this First Audiovisual Translation Conference. The themes were diverse, the workshops were hands on approach and the networking was possible between attendees and sponsors. The idea to bring together people for all around the world was supported with a well-thought schedule and I believe everybody had 4 days full of joy, ideas, concepts and food for though.
Future is Access
Aptrad’s first international audiovisual conference was a great opportunity to gather industry experts and reflect on how AVT can make content more accessible to all. What I learned in each lecture has convinced me to keep accessibility in mind in everything I do. Furthermore, I’m proud of the Iberian representation. We’re doing great things!
What a great association can do for its members?
APTRAD IS an association that members can return to again and again to find the connection they long for, as well as resources, event information, volunteering opportunities, webinars, access to subject matter expertise, mentoring programs, virtual events and so on. I feel so happy and grateful to be part of it. I am always welcome and this makes a difference from others associations. Thank you so much!!
