Mafalda Cortes Pereira & Paula Silva
Bio
Mafalda Cortes Pereira has been working in the language services market since 2002, when she co-founded Multivertentes, a Porto-based LSP. With a degree in English and German Languages and Literature, she has also completed a post-graduate course in Management.
Professionally, she has grown with her company. Having started as a young entrepreneur, she continues to be an avid learner, while reveling in sharing success.
She is also a mom to a 5-year old and always sets aside some time for a good book.
Paula Silva is a freelance translator with eight years of experience. Worked as an intern in an SME, and also in a renamed multinational, but choose to build her career in freelancing. Despite working at home, Paula likes to maintain a close relationship with the LSPs and PMs, because it improves both the quality of translations and her happiness level.
Translation companies and freelancers – How to build a successful cooperation
Presentation in:
What do freelance translators and translation companies expect from one another in order to maintain a lasting and trustworthy relationship? Is there a magic formula for success?
Considering that this is a recurring subject for all LSPs, we have taken our own experience of working together as a starting point and we have decided to find out what makes such relationships last.
We decided to do this by questioning translation companies and freelance translators separately, not only about the usual hot topics, like quality, deadlines and payment, but also on more subjective, and perhaps critical, areas, like communication, and social interaction.
Our aim is to assess if the nature of these relationships relies more on the type and dimension of the translation companies, or on personal traits, and in what ways can it be shaped and improved.
